Sarkodie sings about ‘dumsor’

2012 BET Awards winner, Michael Owusu Addo (popularly known as Sarkodie), has released a new song entitled ‘dumsor’.
The song, which was released on Thursday night, talks about the excessive power rationing Ghanaians are currently facing.
Few days ago, the Tema-based rapper joined a social media campaign dubbed #DumsorMustStop which was initiated by Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson. The campaign seeks to call on the Ghanaian government to fix the country’s energy crisis.
It is in this direction that Sarkodie has released this new song. Among other things, he talks about how people cannot properly plan their lives due to the power outages.
“All I’m saying is if nobody stands up to talk about issues that bother Ghanaians, the country is going to remain the same,” he said in the song.
The rapper also used the opportunity to debunk news doing the rounds that he has been given money by the main opposition political party, NPP, to talk down the NDC government.
Sarkodie and actress Yvonne Nelson have called on Ghanaians to join them at an anti-dumsor vigil on Saturday, May 16, 2015 to register their displeasure with the erratic power cuts in the country.

The celebrities’ move seems to have triggered a counterreaction from the NDC devotee Stephen Atubiga.
Stephen Atubiga has promised the entire nation that he will lead a crusade to “burn their music and movies” should the celebrities embark on their mission.
