4 Years is Enough for Mahama to Reset the Country – Benjamin Kofi Quarshie Confidently Claims

According to Kofi Quarshie, a Council of Elders Chairman for the NDC South-Africa, a four-year term is enough for President Mahama to implement institutional reforms and bring benefits to the people of Ghana. He stated that four years in office is sufficient for Mahama to reset the country.

This discussion happened on the Maakye show on Kessben TV when host Kofi Ziega questioned Kofi Quarshie about whether four years is enough for President Mahama to reset things in Ghana. The NDC has been vocal about the economic hardships and the need for revival, questioning how Mahama plans to achieve this within a four-year term.

Kofi Quarshie confidently stated that four years is sufficient for President Mahama to implement institutional reforms and bring benefits to the people of Ghana.

Also, He emphasized that if a leader focuses on their mandates, everything can be accomplished within four years.

Moreover, he noted that Mahama has already made significant amendments during his previous term, proving that four years is enough to reset the country.

In addition, Kofi Ziega highlighted that during the 2016 campaign, President Mahama mentioned that four years was not enough and suggested adding more years.

Again, he referenced President Kuffour’s similar statement at the White House. Mahama also addressed this issue at the Saïd Business School at Oxford University, stating that no president can effectively utilize just four years.

Ziega asked if Kofi Quarshie believes the term of office should be extended.

Kofi Quarshie responded that Mahama’s leadership has shown that four years is adequate for making impactful changes. He added that it will take all the NDC’s efforts to solve the economic crises left by the NPP government led by President Akufo-Addo.

He mentioned that even within two years of his term, Mahama initiated projects like Ridge Hospital and Kejetia Market.

Moreover, Kofi Quarshie stressed that Mahama will be critical in appointing his ministers, starting the reform process. He assured that President Mahama will not abuse his power but will use it to reset and reform the country.

In his final words, he stated that the president and his appointees should meet Ghanaians’ expectations and stabilize the economy within the first two years, acknowledging that it will take time as Mahama is not a magician.
