A Member of the National Association of Local Assemblies in Ghana 🇬🇠(NALAG) and Presiding Member for Asokwa Municipal Assembly, Hon Nana Yaw Wiredu has called on the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stop their supporters from their destructive enterprise.
Speaking to this reporter on Tuesday, Hon Nana Yaw reminded the NDC members that what happened in the country last Saturday was only a general election to elect new leaders of government but not a coup detat.
The Assembly Member therefore wondered why some elements with links to the NDC are looting and stealing items belonging to the state.
“Government is a continuous process and so if your party has won an election it is important that we all allow the new President and MPs to be sworn into office peacefully for them to begin the administration of the country”, Nana Yaw Wiredu stated.
Destruction of MMDAs:
The NALAG representative also described as needless and senseless the destruction of some state properties by these criminal elements.
He said it was nonsensical the forceful entries into stores and locker rooms of some Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across Ghana 🇬đź‡.
The NALAG Representative revealed that in the Ashanti region, some hoodlums suspected to have links to the NDC have entered into the store room of the Oforikrom Assembly and stolen items.
Hon Nana Yaw Wiredu also disclosed that some persons were allegedly scheming to storm the stores at the Asokwa Municipal Assembly.
Appeal:
The Assembly Member has therefore appealed to the NDC to call their supporters to order before they are arrested by the Police.
Nana Yaw Wiredu cautioned that there was still a President in Ghana whose mandate would only expire on 7th January, 2025.
“I call on the executives of the NDC to hurriedly call all these rampaging youth suspected to be members of the NDC to order so that we can have a peaceful transition at the MMDAS across Ghana 🇬🇠“, the NALAG Representative appealed.
