Why John Mahama’s Promise Of Reviewing Free SHS Means Cancelation Of The Policy – Ghanaians must vote to protect Free SHS
By Lawyer Iddi Muhayu-Deen
Dear Ghanaian voter,
Somebody tells you that it is not feasible to implement a particular policy; tells you the implementation of the policy would collapse the country’s economy and the educational system; tells you the policy is a hoax/419; tells you that all the African countries that tried to implement the policy recorded a spectacular failure; organizes demonstration against the policy;
tells you if he had GHc2billion, he wouldn’t waste that money on Free SHS policy; proceeds to sponsor over 47 campaign adverts against the policy; sends one of his surrogates [Mahama Ayariga], to the Supreme Court to try and stop the implementation of Free SHS.
Today, the same person, who has clearly demonstrated his strong reservation and antipathy to Free SHS tells you he will review the policy if given the opportunity, how else can anybody interpret the meaning of ‘review’ within this context other than frustrating the policy, or implementing it in a manner that will lead to its gradual collapse in order to justify the need to cancel it?
The dilemma or difficulty the NDC and John Mahama find themselves in is that, having regard to how they condemned the free SHS policy, they just cannot, in good conscience, proceed with the implementation of the policy.
In any case, they know that no matter how successful the policy becomes (whether under an NDC government or a different government), the credit will always be given to the NPP, which has now become synonymous with Free SHS, just like how John Mahama has become synonymous with dumsor.
It is not surprising that the NDC national chairman, Asiedu Nketia, has categorically confirmed in a video that the NDC will cancel Free SHS. If it looks like a duck and swims like a duck, it certainly is a duck.
From all indications, a John Mahama’s victory on December 7 will spell doom for the Free SHS policy, which has, today, secured the future of over 5.7million Ghanaian youth who would have otherwise been denied access to free quality secondary education.
You must not vote for John Mahama because he is the biggest threat to the Free SHS policy. Vote to protect Free SHS. Vote for Dr. Bawumia for love of God and country. Free SHS can only be safe under a Bawumia government.
Assalamu alaik
