Napo Speaks Out Against NDC’s Religious, Tribal Biases” – Calls for Rejection

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged Ghanaians to reject the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)because they are known to be tribal and religious discrimination, which he described as untenable.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh didn’t mince words in citing many instances to buttress his claim and drawing a clear distinction between the NPP and the NDC in terms of who values religious and tribal harmony between the two.

The running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said that the NPP has proven to be a party that embraces all Ghanaians, irrespective of their tribal and religious backgrounds, and have followed that which an action by electing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the first Muslim and Mamprusi to lead a major political party in Ghana. He said that the party has also ensured that each time a Christian or southerner has been selected as Flagbearer, they go up to the North in search of a running mate to balance the ticket. This time, with a northerner and a Muslim charge, he has come down to the south to pick a running mate who is also a Christian.

Speaking at the Gbewaa Palace during a courtesy call on the overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari Gariba II, Dr. Matthew Opoku said that the same cannot be said of the NDC who have demonstrated disinterest in having Muslims in the lead.

According to him, the NDC even removed Muslims and northerners who were in leadership for their caucus in parliament, ie Haruna Iddirisu who was removed from his position as Minority leader in January 2023, and Muntaka Mohammed Mubarack, who was removed from office as Minority Chief whip within the same period.

He continued that NDC at a point didn’t want work or live in the Jubilee House because it was close to Nima, a zongo community in Accra, as stated by an NDC stalwart Sam Pee Yalley. All these are what he called a clear evidence of the fact that the NDC are not for all Ghanaians, especially northerners and such a party must not be allowed to rule the country again.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh said that Dr. Bawumia will be elected, and he will faithfully and humbly serve him to bring development and prosperity to all Ghanaians, irrespective of their tribe or religion
