Black Stars is retrogression because of dishonest appointments & favoritism in player selection – Legendary Kofi Ntow Gyan
Former Black Stars and Asante Kotoko midfielder Kofi Ntow Gyan expressed his concerns about the current state of the national football team, Black Stars describing it as a period of retrogression. Gyan attributed this decline to what he perceives as dishonest appointments and selection processes for players.
The former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars Midfielder speaking on Midfield Action with Joe Laka highlighted that the integrity of the selection process is crucial for the success of any national team. He pointed out that favoritism and lack of transparency in player selections can lead to suboptimal performances on the pitch. According to him, the best talents should be chosen based solely on merit, rather than personal connections or agendas.
The former player emphasized that the Black Stars have a rich history and a wealth of talent at their disposal. However, he believes that unless the management and coaching staff address the issues surrounding player selection, the team will struggle to compete at the highest levels. Gyan called for a revamp of the current system to ensure that only the most deserving players don the national jersey.
As discussions around the future of the Black Stars continue, Gyan’s comments serve as a reminder of the need for accountability and integrity in football governance. The success of the team is not just a reflection of the players on the field, but also of the processes that bring them together.
