National Tenants Union declares support for NDC’s housing projects
After examining the housing plans proposed by several political parties, the National Tenants Union of Ghana (NATUG) has openly approved the programs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
NATUG applauded the NDC’s intentions to restructure the Rent Control Department and create an autonomous Rent Authority.
They also valued the party’s dedication to advancing affordable housing options and instituting low-interest rent advance programs.
The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) housing pledges were criticized by NATUG, who labeled them“recycled, unfulfilled, and broken.”
This declaration coincides with the NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama’s pledge to give affordable housing for Ghanaians first priority.
NATUG affirmed its support for the NDC by stating that the party’s housing policies are in line with its objectives.
“After comparing the housing policies of both parties, the National Tenants’ Union of Ghana has decided to endorse the housing proposals of the National Democratic Congress (NDC),” stated NATUG in a statement dated Wednesday, October 2.
The group urged on the NDC to fully implement these promises if elected, to alleviate the housing issues plaguing many Ghanaians, cautioning to hold Mahama accountable in 2028 if he wins the elections.
“Furthermore, we call on the NDC’s leadership and their Presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama to fully implement these policies if elected, to alleviate the housing challenges facing many Ghanaians.
“The Union will hold a future John Dramani Mahama-led government accountable to these promises during the 2025-2028 period.” the statement.
