Kumasi Needs Kumasi: I’m not saying I want to coach Kotoko but I can coach Kotoko & be very successful – Asare Bediako

Coach Asare Bediako of the Young Apostles shared his thoughts on the potential of Kumasi-born players and coaches, as well as his pride in his team’s accomplishments.

Daniel Lomotey’s goal in the second half was cancelled out by Emmanuel Antwi as his team’s match against Asante Kotoko in Ghana Premier League matchweek three ended in a 1-1 draw at the Len Clay Stadium.

Bediako characterised the draw as a noteworthy accomplishment for his youthful team after giving the game some thought. Asante Kotoko and I were thrilled to be sketching together because youthful Apostles is a youthful team.

“It felt like a win for us. We studied them before the game and prepared our players mentally, so I believe we deserved more than just a point.”

Yes, I said Kumasi needs Kumasi. It’s not only about coaches but also players. We had northerners who were born in Kumasi and raised in Kumasi who played and coached Kotoko very well.

“At least there must be four regular players playing for Kotoko,” he stated. “I’m not saying those outside Kumasi are not good. Players from Kumasi are performing exceptionally well all over the Ghana Premier League.

The point I was making was not specifically about coaches. I’m not saying I want to coach Kotoko, but I can coach Kotoko and be successful” He said on Kessben FM.
