NPP-USA Washington DC Metro Chapter Engages Ghanaian Traditional Rulers

In a significant move to foster collaboration and dialogue, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) USA Washington DC Metro Area Chapter met with the traditional Chiefs and Queen mothers Association of Washington DC Metro on Sunday, September 15th, 2024. Led by Chairman Ing. Janis Asare-Bediako, the NPP-USA delegation aimed to update the traditional rulers on the ongoing NPP campaign and discuss manifesto policies related to chieftaincy, cultural, and family values.

Chairman Janis expressed gratitude to the chiefs for their continuous support, particularly in gracing the NPP@30 anniversary celebration. He also formally introduced Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) as the running mate to Dr. Bawumia, highlighting NAPO’s strengths and contributions to the ticket.

Key Manifesto Policies Discussed:

• Reviewing Section 63 of the Chieftaincy Act: Allowing more participation and engagement from traditional rulers
• Living Allowances: Supporting Paramount Chiefs, Divisional Chiefs, and Queen Mothers
• Cultural and Family Values: Strengthening existing Ghanaian values

The NPP delegation sought the chiefs’ support in addressing the ongoing galamsey menace, recognizing them as key stakeholders in curbing this issue. The traditional rulers appreciated the NPP-USA Washington DC Metro Chapter’s engagement and dialogue, praising the manifesto proposals as “long overdue” and “a step in the right direction.” However, they cautioned the NPP to ensure implementation of these policies beyond mere campaign rhetoric.

The chiefs advised the NPP to communicate their implemented projects and policies effectively, as these achievements would influence the Ghanaian populace’s electoral decisions.
