Mahama questions Bawumia’s competence ahead of December polls
John Mahama says Dr. Bawumia, the Vice President who is also the flag bearer for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) lacks the wherewithal to lead Ghana after years of being under failed apprenticeship.
According to Mahama, what the NPP is competent at is to make dubious promises which they know they can’t fulfill to Ghanaians just to win power.
But Mahama says after the elections, the NPP forgo the will of the people and lord over them with arrogance and impunity, without thinking about the needs of the people.
During a rally at Ashaiman Tuesday, August 27, 2024, he took on Dr Bawumia over what he describes as desperation in his quest to become President when he has shown signs of failure over the years.
“They think Ghanaians are not level-headed so they say whatever they want during elections. ‘One million dollars for each constituency per year’, ‘Yɛte sika so, nanso ɛkɔm de yɛn (We are starving although we are sitting on wealth) when we come, everyone will be satisfied’ ‘we’ll provide a factory in each district for the youth to get jobs’, but they were all lies,” teased John Mahama.
“So, they think what they need to do is to say what Ghanaians would want to hear and give them the votes and do whatever they want. They won’t listen to anyone, the state coffers is at their disposal,” he added.
The NDC flag bearer continued that President Akufo-Addo has been doing the direct opposite of the things he promised whilst campaigning.
He quoted that the President at a time said “‘I’m too old to be stealing your money’ but the old men are even stealing than the young ones.”
