Greater Accra NHIS Partners with Ga State to Celebrate Homowo Festival with Free Health Services
The Greater Accra National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has collaborated with the Ga State to commemorate the Homowo festival, offering free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and renewal, health screening, and educational health talks.
Promoting Preventive Care
Mr. Bernard Brown, Director of Operations for the Coastal Belt at NHIA, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “As part of our corporate social responsibility and shift from curative to preventive care, we aim to raise awareness about the significance of health insurance and healthy living.” He encouraged the public to prioritize their health and take advantage of the free registration and health services.
Free Registration and Health Services
During the Homowo festival, the NHIA targets registering 20,000 individuals, focusing on the Ga State and Ga Adangbe communities. Elliot Apreku Asante, Greater Accra Regional Operations Manager, highlighted this new initiative to partner with traditional authorities, promoting health awareness and access to healthcare.

The event will feature:
- Free NHIS registration and renewal
- Comprehensive health screening (blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, etc.)
- Health talks on nutrition, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyles
