Gomoa: Community demonstrates against Chief over land-guard issues

Gomoa Toboase township’s chiefs and residents, located in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, are furious with Obirifo Ahornako Ahor Ankobea (ii), the Omanhene of the Gomoa Assin Traditional Council, for obstructing development and causing unrest in the region.

With a population of approximately 1,000, Gomoa Toboase is an agricultural community; nevertheless, because of disputes about chietaincy, the town lacks social amenities.

Mireku Nyanpong speaking on Kessben FM’s Breaking News said Omankrado of Gomoa Toboase Nana Aprotua Okum-Gyata has stressed that all of their properties were sold to estate developers by strangers, and those developers have hired land guards to preserve the land, which is having an impact on their farming operations.

To stop violence, Nana Aprotua Okum-Gyata urged the IGP to step up security in Gomoa Toboase.

Omanhene’s attempt to appoint a new chief to the Gomoa Toboase village is causing a great deal of friction in the area, according to Omankrado.
