Ursula foundation will enhance skills and potentials of young people-Minister
The Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has launched the Ursula Foundation with the call on the youth to take advantage of the array of skills sets that it will offer for employment generation.
The Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) is geared towards empowering the youth in their entrepreneurship drive and will also help in building capacities of young people to engage in small and medium enterprises as the facility has academic disciplines such as agribusiness, catering food production, bead and soap making, textile and garment production, leather works, plumbing carpentry, electrical works.
The rest are entrepreneurship development, information technology and digital skills, creative arts, media relations, book keeping, business management communications and inter personal skills among others.
Speaking at the launch of the facility in Dansoman, a suburb of Accra, Mrs. Ursula Owusu- Ekuful said the foundation is open to youth from all walks of life devoid from political affiliation saying the project forms part of the effort to empower young people in their quest to self- independence in the career growth and development.
According to her, the foundation, will also help the youth of Ablekuma West with entrepreneurial skills training as well as support others to become self-reliant to enable them become competitive in the job market adding that the foundation will collaborate with local and international bodies to engage in workshops and mentorships programmes for the youth.
“Management of the foundation will be transparent and fair in addressing the challenges of the youth” she said and explained that career counsellors assist them in their fields of skills development.
Madam Ernestina Appiah, the Founder of the Ghana Code Club said the foundation has state of the art facilities to build capabilities of young people in their quest to become entrepreneurial giants in the world of works.
