Kasoa: Hawa Koomson’s son $tabb3d at EC office

Ato Koomson, the son of Awutu Senya East MP and Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Mavis Hawa Koomson, was stabbed after a fight outside the Kasoa office of the Electoral Commission.

When Mr. Koomson was sent to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment, his condition was severe. During the incident, there was also an injury to another person.

According to a report filed Kessben FM’s Mireku Nyanpong on Maakye, when protesters for the opposition NDC and the ruling NPP disagreed about where some citizens should be placed in line for the ongoing voter ID card replacement and transfer process.

The argument, which began at four in the morning, was over who was entitled to occupy a specific chair in the line. Sources claim that both parties typically set chairs in the queue to hold positions for their members.

About forty-five minutes after the altercation started, Mr. Koomson showed up at the registration desk. He allegedly went to the center to talk to the NDC organizer about the problem.

During the altercation, the purported NDC member took out a knife and stabbed Ato Koomson in the chest, according to King Adawu, an NPP member who also received a minor cut. The two injured parties were then transported to the hospital. Ato Koomson is still hospitalized; Mr. Adawu received treatment and was allowed to go home.

Police have detained the primary suspect in the meanwhile, and they are still looking into the event.
