Akufo -Addo’s Top Appointee At Ghana Free Zones Authority Dumps Him And The NPP For Alan’s Butterfly Movement

Mr. Joojo Fosu, an appointee of President Akufo-Addo at the Ghana Free Zones Authority, where he is serving as acting Board Chairman, has dumped the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and has thrown his support for an Independent Presidential Candidate, Alan Kyerematen, founder of the Movement for Change.

He, however, still maintains his job in the NPP government as the Board Chairman of the Authority despite his brazen show of VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE in the Akufo-Addo government and the ability of the NPP to win the 2024 general elections.

Adorned in the ‘butterfly cloth’, which is the symbol of Alan’s Movement for Change, Joojo Fosu accompanied Alan Kyerematen to the State Funeral rites held in honour of Former First Lady, Theresa Kufuor, held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the forecourt of the State House.

Per Article 3(9)(1) of the NPP Constitution, for showing support for a different presidential candidate other than the Party’s duly elected presidential candidate, Joojo Fosu has AUTOMATICALLY FORFEITED his membership of the NPP.

It would be recalled that the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, on Monday, November 20, 2023, issued a statement reinforcing the provisions of Article 3(9)(1) of the Party Constitution, to the effect that any party member who supports a different presidential candidate apart from the party’s duly elected candidate, H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has automatically forfeited his membership of the NPP.

Some political commentators have asserted that, having clearly exited the NPP voluntarily, and demonstrating clearly that he no longer shares in the NPP government’s vision for Ghana, Joojo Fosu’s continuous stay in office as Board Chairman of the Ghana Free Zones Board is untenable.
