Bono Region: Over 1000 displaced, 15 communities affected following Volta Lake spillage
Following a spillage from the Volta Lake, over 10 communities in Yeji have been affected as thousands have been displaced.
An eyewitness speaking on Kessben FM’s Breaking News said the main road that connects about 15 communities in Yeji has been flooded following the spillage triggered by the recent heavy downpours.
Economic activities and any other activities have since been halted due to the flood which has made movement practically impossible.
Residents in these communities had to be forced to move out to neighboring communities that were not affected.
According to Francis, a resident of Yeji, the main source of transport has since been wooden boats. He said the operators of the boats charge GHC15 to cross.
He noted that every year, the spillage happens but this year’s own has been their worst hit in recent years.
