Jordan Ayew: I will want to play in Ghana Premier League

Black Stars and Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew is nursing the dream of featuring for a Ghana based team in the Ghana Premier League in future.

Jordan, 31, made the revelation during an interview with GTV Sports Plus on Monday, July 3.

“The Ghana Premier League is something that I have in mind. One day, I could play for a team in Accra because I’m based in Accra”, he said.

Throughout his career, the striker who has a blistering pace, has had stints with notable European clubs such as Olympique Marseille, Sochaux, Aston Villa, and Swansea City.

Should this dream materialise, Jordan Ayew will join a list of Black Stars players such as Sulley Muntari, Asamaoh Gyan, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and Samuel Inkoom who also played in the domestic league before retirement.

Ayew also hinted that he was not cajoled into taking football as a profession as has been speculated in the media over the years.

For him, being born into a family of footballers only presented an opportunity but believed that a person’s destiny is predetermined by God.

“I am very lucky to have come from the Ayew family. They never put pressure on us to play football and obviously when you come from a family of footballers, automatically you have to give yourself a chance,” he said,

He continued: “Aside that, your destiny is your destiny and it is what God has written for us and we are privileged and really proud”.
