We’re going picket at the Ministry of Finance the whole week until our monies are paid – Pension Bondholders
According to the Pensioner Bondholders Forum, they would continue to picket the Ministry of Finance until they receive payment for their bonds that have matured.
On Kessben Maakye with Akuoko Kwarteng, Dr. Adu Anane Antwi, the president of the Pensioners Association, stressed that the government has been delaying paying their matured coupons and principal for more than two months.
Dr. Adu Anane Antwi claims that the group was forced to return to the Finance Ministry to protest because of the government’s lack of response.
The government owes individual bondholders who chose not to participate in the Domestic Debt Exchange Program and elderly bondholders who were exempt from the program payments.
He claimed that they are unaware of who they are paying. The payment they have started making is the one that would have been due on March 3 and March 5.
Dr Adu noted they are starting the picketing at the Ministry of Finance on Monday 8th May 2023 between the hours of 10 am to 11 am every weekday until their needs are settled.
