White woman reports “trotro mate” to police for overcharging her by 50p (Video)
An elderly white woman who boarded the Madina-Accra commercial vehicle from Atomic Junction to Spanner Junction insisted on reclaiming the Ghc 0.50 that the driver’s companion overcharged her.
The woman says that she has always used commercial cars along that stretch and paid GHC 4, but that specific vehicle’s conductor opted to take GHC 4.50 from her, which she could not understand.
She stated that the fare had always been GHC 4, but the young man was adamant, so when they arrived at a place where she saw police officers waiting by the road, she ordered the driver to stop and she reported the problem to the officials.
Several passengers on the bus tried to persuade the conductor to return the Ghc 0.50 to the old woman and deal with her respectfully throughout, but he refused.
When a police officer intervened in the case, he demanded to see the approved pricing list from which the conductor was charging his fare, and it became evident that the young guy was really attempting to defraud the woman. He insisted on taking the Madina station fare to Spanner junction rather than Atomic junction.
The police officer forced him to return the Ghc 0.50 to the woman, but it did not put an end to the situation. A TikTok video shows them exchanging obscenities and threats until the woman finally arrives at her destination.
