Ghana Airlines to start operations with ATR planes

The latest development in the operationalization of Ghana’s new national airline shows that the airline would be seeking to operate ATR planes for the start of its operations.

According to AviationGhana, the airline revealed that it would be using the ATR planes for its domestic and regional operations.

The choice of the aircraft depends largely on its fuel efficiency, low maintenance cost, and operational efficiency in a tough terrain such as West Africa.

Ghana’s airspace has been without a national airline for 13 years following the collapse of former national airlines Ghana Airways, which occurred in 2004, and Ghana International Airlines, which followed six years later in 2010.

The new national airline has already acquired an Air Carrier License (ACL) and is finalizing its acquisition of an Air Operator Certificate (AOC).
