3 Ghanaian musicians nominated for Channel O Awards
Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and R2Bees have been nominated for awards in four categories of the 2014 Channel O Africa Music Video Awards.
Spread across 14 categories, this year’s Channel O Africa Music Video Awards nominees are a showcase of original African music from the continent.
“The quality of music videos we have seen over the past few years is a testament to the way music videos are playing an increasingly important role in the promotion of African music. It is refreshing to see newcomers nominated with industry veterans in this year’s nominees list and it proves that there is no barrier to making an impact on the music scene,” says Channel O Africa Manager, Leslie Kasumba.
The Channel O Africa Music Video Awards are the only annual music video awards exclusively featuring African artists that are voted for by the public. The awards show, now in its 11th year, is broadcast around the continent. 2014 will see the awards taking place on Saturday, November 29, at Nasrec Expo Centre in Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa.
R2Bees’ Slow Down featuring Wizkid, has been nominated in two categories; Most Gifted Group and Most Gifted West African Group.
Sarkodie has been nominated in the Most Gifted Male category with Illuminati, while Shatta Wale’s Everybody Likes My Ting has been nominated in the Most Gifted Dancehall category.
