‘Come to Manhyia’ Ashanti Youth Association(AYA) rejects Osafo-Marfo’s apology
The Ashanti Youth Association has rejected the apology of the senior minister Hon Yaw Osafo-Marfo following his ethnocentric comment that denigrated Ashantis.
The senior presidential adviser in a leaked audio allegedly said that Ashantis did not play any significant role in securing independence for Ghana.
Hon Yaw-Osafo Marfo in the apology noted that his comment was intended to flame ethnocentrism conceding that he erred.
His apology comes after he was widely lambasted by many for the comment which he did not deny in his apology.
Secretary for the Ashanti Youth Association, Tweneboa Kodua speaking on Kessben TV’s Breaking News with Kwasi Ntiamoah stressed that they won’t accept the apology.
According to Twenboah Kodua, the apology by the senior minister did not address them. He noted that they only saw his apology on social media.
The Ashanti Youth Association strongly said that if the senior minister has indeed conceded that he erred, he should go through the right processes to apologise to Asanteman.
Per the customs and traditions of the Ashanti Kingdom, a remorseful offender ought to be present at the Manhyia palace to do the needful.
