We will lay down our tools, We can no longer bear the pain -NAGRAT
The Northern regional secretariat of National Association of Graduate Teachers(NAGRAT), held a press conference in Tamale concerning government showing of insensitivity to their plight.
Mr. Abdulai Seidu Gong, Northern Regional Chairman of NAGRAT, said the it is an outright knowledge that cost of living in Ghana today is rising with the speed light which has affected and continue to affect the livelihood of their members who are sacrificing to build this nation.
In his statement he added that, prices of fuel, goods and services continue to rise by the day, the introduction of new taxes have worsen the already bad situation, yet the salaries of teacher’s remains the same.
He further stated that, the Association have given the government up to the end of June to come out with a positive response, they have no option to lay down their tools.
Mr. Abdulai Seidu Gong added that, the National Vice President of NAGRAT on the 7th June, 2022, in a press conference requested that government as a matter of urgency grant workers Cost of Living Allowance(CoLA) of at least 20% percent to ameliorate the hardship the Ghanaian workers are facing.
