Islamic SHS Shootings: Calm restored, students safe and sound – Ntim Fordjour
The Ministry of Education says calm has returned to the Islamic Senior High School in the Ashanti Region following Monday’s chaos that resulted in more than a dozen students being hospitalized.
Deputy Education Minister, John Ntim Fordjour, after a visit to the school on Monday night, said all the injured affected students are currently safe and responding to medical treatment.
Kessben News earlier reported that at least 30 students of the school had been rushed to the hospital after police allegedly opened tear gas on them while they were demonstrating over frequent knockdowns in front of the school.
The students of the school were said to have blocked the road in front of their school in the course of their protest, prompting authorities to invite the police.
While describing the incident as unfortunate, the Deputy Minister gave assurances full academic work will resume on Tuesday.
