The Iraqi league is better than the Ghana league, we don’t mature well before moving out of Ghana – Stephen Sarfo
Former Berekum Chelsea forward Stephen has rated the Iraqi premier league ahead of the Ghana premier league.
Stephen Sarfo who now plies his trade in the Iraqi league says in terms of development and standard, the Iraqi league far outwits the Ghana premier league.
The Al Hudoo SC forward speaking in an interview with Sir Joe Laka on Kessben TV underscored the standard of the Iraqi league is way ahead of the Ghana premier.
Sarfo who has scored 21 goals for his side Al Hudoo noted that most Ghanaian footballers who are directly purchased to play outside Ghana do not mature well before moving outside Ghana because of the booty.
He urged the government to support the local league for at least players to earn GHC5000 a month.
“The problem is that our players from the Ghana premier league do not mature enough before moving to these clubs outside Ghana that is why some underperform.
It is not only about the players who may need the money but the clubs too when these clubs are after their players, they also need money by letting them go without maturing enough.
I will urge the Ghana Government to get involved so that at least if a player in the league earns around GHC5000 there is no way he will leave.
They have fine pitches with excellent facilities and as a player, you will have to think fast on the ball. I will rate the Iraqi league ahead of the Ghana premier league.” He said.
