Achimota Forest Reserve: Akufo Addo is being misled, We own it with documents – Osu Royal family (Video)

The Osiahene of the Osu Traditional Council, Nii Nortey has emphasised that the Osu Royal family are the custodians of the Achimota Forest Reserve.

Nii Nortey speaking in an interview with Kwame Appiah Kubi on Kessben TV (Kessben Maakye) said the traditional council of Osu have documents signed by the supreme court to back their claim of ownership.

According to the chief, the president of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo is being misled on the issue of the Achimota forest by some figures who are seeking to push for their vested interest.

He stressed that the supreme court in 2011 during the stewardship of the late president Mills ruled on the ownership of the Achimota Forest for the Osu Royal family.

The subject of the Achimota Forest became a national topic following a publication by the Forests (Cessation of Forest Reserve) Instrument, 2022 (Executive Instrument (EI) 144) that there have been media reports, especially on social media, indicating that the Achimota Forest Reserve has been sold.

The minister of lands and natural resources, Mr Abu Jinapor has however rubbished the reports thus entreating the public to disregard the reports as they were false, baseless and non-factual.
