Stakeholder Engagement Currently Ongoing On The Proposed 148% Tarriff Increment – Dr. Kofi Obutey
Dr. Kofi Obutey Head of Research at Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has reacted to the 148% proposal tariff increase by Electricity company of Ghana (ECG).
Speaking on “the big question program with Akuoku Kwateng, he stated that, ECG’s proposals is based on changing their old machines, getting good customer service, good internet and expansion.
He noted that, there are hitting target for ECG and once they miss it, its their loss. Dr. Kofi Obutey also mentioned that, stakeholder consultation is ongoing with regards to the the 148% tariff increment proposals from ECG. “we have met with the development partners, parliamentary committee, works and housing ministry and yet to meet with the civil service organization, and the media etc.
He indicated that, the losses unit are 22% but ECG unit losses are 30% and they can not give it all to people to pay. “we wont agree.
