Mr. Felix Ofori-Boafo, the AssemblyMan for Neizer Gardens Electoral Area in Elmina, a surburb in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipality, on Sunday, 20th February 2022, held a party to celebrate the aged in his electoral Area. The aged numbered 110, were presented with 5kg bags of rice, cooking oil and other items.
According to him, the elders deserve a life of good health, dignity and economic independence and must be supported to achieve that. He reiterated that, understanding their needs, concerns and lending them support will ensure they live a health life.
Speaking to Benya Fm 105.7 in Elmina, Hon. Felix Ofori-Boafo said he decided to celebrate the aged in his electoral Area because, they deserve some sort of appreciation for their contribution towards the society he represents. “Our elders are wise and more knowledgeable than any of us young ones. Their experience amidst life storms provide them with invaluable wisdom of which, we the youth can tap from. They have come very far and learned so much, therefore, we have to learn from their knowledge and intelligence” he said.
He promised to organise the event annually and call on others to follow his footprints. “If God permit, I will be organising this event annually but I will plead and call on others to follow this gesture and together help us celebrate the aged in any way that we can. Thank you!”
