N/ER: Inauguration of Regional Sports Committee and Regional inter-District Cross Country Competition

The inauguration of the Regional Sports Committee and Regional Inter-District Cross Country Athletics Competition was held on 16th February, 2022 at Nalerigu in the North-east , with the theme Running for Peace and Unity.

The guest of honor for the function was Hon. Yidana Zakaria, North East Regional Minister, which was chaired by Hon. Hajia Rashida Mahama Municipal Chief Executive.

Hon. Yidana Zakaria asked the athletes to focus more on both sports and their Education.

He explained the benefits of playing sports, how it helps to stay fit both mentally and physically.

Hon. Seth Panwum Boyoyo, Board Chairman of National Sports Authority in his speech said the current record is 29minutes at the National level and the best athlete in the just ended inter- district Cross Country Competition with the time of 30minutes, which he believes they can beat the time and even set new record at the National competition which is scheduled to take place at Eastern Region next week.

Hon Seth Panwum Boyoyo added that, Sports infrastructures development in the forth republic From 3 in 2016 to over 100 across the country including those build by special initiatives ministry, Zongo development, GNPC etc

He further stated how the north-east region will be first to get the multi purpose Standard Stadium among the Six newly created regions.

Board Chairman National Sports Authority sworn in the Regional Sports Committee which is chaired Mr. Daniel Janamal Duut and other members into office.

Mr. Majeed Bawa, Deputy Director of National encourage the athletes to participate in one or more sports activities and also promised to equip the regional secretariat.

In attendance was the Hajia Salamatu Alhasssan, N/R Director National Sports Authority, Committee Members, Ghana Ambulance, Sports Tutors, and the Security.
