Rockland Farms CEO Donates Gh¢100,000 To Sponsor Best Female Farmer For 2026 – Agric Minister Hails Support For 42nd Farmers’ Day

The Chief Executive Officer of Rockland Farms and 2023 National Best Female Farmer, Madam Edith Akosah Wheatland, has donated Gh¢100,000 to sponsor the Best Female Farmer category for the 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebration.
She presented the cheque to the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, in Accra this morning.
Speaking after the presentation, Madam Wheatland said her donation was aimed at giving back and inspiring other past award winners to support women in agriculture.
“As the former National Best Female Farmer for 2023, I am here to sponsor the Best Female Farmer for 2026. This is also to encourage other past winners to support the Ministry and to help other female farmers in the industry,” she said.
According to her, investing in women in agribusiness goes beyond individual support.
“What I have realized is that when women are being supported, when women are given access to finance, access to markets and technology, women thrive. And when you support a woman in agribusiness, you are not just supporting one person. You are supporting her family, her community, and you are supporting the future of food systems,” she stated.
Receiving the donation, Hon. Eric Opoku expressed profound gratitude to Madam Wheatland and other stakeholders contributing towards the national celebration.
“We are receiving donations from all stakeholders, people of Ghana, and corporate bodies. Everybody is contributing towards the cause. We are so much elated this afternoon to receive a cash donation of 100,000 Ghana Cedis from Madam Edith Akosah Wheatland, who is a major stakeholder in our agricultural space,” the Minister said.
He assured that the funds will be used judiciously to ensure the celebration impacts food production.
“We are grateful to Madam Edith and her company, and we wish to assure them that whatever they have given us will go into the organization of the programme and ensure that it impacts on food production in the country. Every one of us here survives on food. Without food, nothing can happen in our nation,” Hon. Opoku noted.
The Minister also thanked the general public for the confidence reposed in the Ministry and reiterated government’s commitment to attaining food self-sufficiency within the shortest possible time.
The 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebration is expected to bring together farmers, agribusinesses and stakeholders from across the country to honour the contributions of Ghanaian farmers to national development.
