I cannot abandon or disown my client Adu-Boahene — Atta Akyea
Samuel Atta Akyea, lead counsel for former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene, and wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, has denied claims that he has abandoned his clients amid their ongoing trial.
A public notice issued on Thursday, September 10, 2026, and signed by Mr Samuel Atta Akyea Esq., said his attention had been drawn to what he described as “wretched and vile propaganda” circulating on social media alleging that he had abandoned his clients over evidence being challenged by the prosecution.
According to him, the evidence in question had already been admitted by the court without objection.
He said the document was “received in evidence, without objection, before His Lordship, Francis Apangabuno Achibanga J.A., sitting as an additional High Court Judge.”
Mr Atta Akyea rejected the suggestion that he could abandon his clients, insisting that his legal team remained actively engaged in the case.
“I cannot abandon or disown my client,” he stated, adding that his legal team was “very busy putting together a very solid and credible submission of no case.”
He expressed hope that the legal submission would help clarify the issues surrounding the trial, saying: “God will turn on the light to dispel the darkness surrounding this sordid allegation.”
Mr Atta Akyea also criticised the media-driven nature of Mr Adu-Boahene’s prosecution, arguing that the courtroom, rather than public commentary, should be the appropriate forum for determining the case.
“Kwabena Adu-Boahene’s case was launched on the platform of media trial, where lies sell,” he said.
“The court is the forum where evidence and law should settle vexed matters, such as my clients’ unfortunate propaganda-driven trial.”
