I Will Lead Women To The Promised Land And Amplify Their Voices – Hawa Koomson

Former Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture and aspiring National Women Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, says she will lead women in the party to the promised land and ensure their voices are heard.

Speaking on the sidelines of the NPP National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at Alisa Hotel in Accra on Thursday, the former MP for Awutu Senya East said women’s voices have not been adequately heard in the party, and she is offering herself as the leader to change that narrative.

“Women’s voices are not heard, and that is why I say hope and assurance. Since their voices are not heard, they will not be heard. And that is the assurance I am giving them. I am going to lead their voice. I am going to lead them to the promised land. I am going to work with them as a leader and a servant,” she said.

Hon. Koomson lamented that women organisers and female executives have often been treated as servants rather than leaders, stressing that she understands the struggle of women in politics.

“Previously, you see a Women Organiser or a female executive being treated as if she is a servant under the leader. We are not heard because some of the previous leaders do not speak for us. I have been there, and I know what it is to fight for women. I know without women, this country will not progress. In every society, there should be a woman,” she stated.

She pledged to mobilize women across the country to work for the party’s victory in 2028.

“We are going to bring the women on board. We are going to bring the women to work for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to win the presidency in 2028,” she assured.

Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson is one of the leading contenders for the NPP National Women Organiser position.

The NPP will hold its National Delegates Conference on October 3, 2026, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to elect new national executives to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
