Sam Pyne eyes First National Vice Chairman slot; pledges to strengthen NPP structures from grassroots
Former Mayor of Kumasi and longest-serving Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sam Pyne, has pledged to strengthen the party’s organizational capacity at all levels if elected First National Vice-Chairman.
According to him, his focus will be on rebuilding and resourcing the party’s administrative and organizational machinery from the polling station to the national level.
Speaking to the media after going through vetting at the party’s headquarters at Kokomlemle in Accra on Monday, Mr. Pyne said he brings decades of experience in party administration, grassroots mobilization and electoral strategy to the table.
“My focus as First National Vice-Chairman is to strengthen the party’s organizational capacity at all levels,” he stated.
Mr. Pyne, who has served multiple terms as Ashanti Regional Secretary, making him the longest-serving secretary of the party in the region, said over the years he has played a key role in training party communicators and campaign officers during major election cycles.
He said he will provide effective administrative support to the National Chairman and the broader national executive team to ensure the party runs efficiently.
He added that he will help strengthen local party structures and ensure that constituency-level positions are fully functional and adequately resourced.
For him, a well-resourced and functional constituency is the foundation for victory in 2028.
He further pledged to promote greater internal cohesion within the party and improve its preparedness for the 2028 general elections.

Sam Pyne, who served as Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), is considered one of the most experienced party administrators in the Ashanti Region, the NPP’s stronghold, having managed the party’s organizational affairs through several election cycles.
His declaration comes as the NPP continues vetting of aspirants for various national executive positions ahead of its internal elections.
