Richard Ahiagbah, candidate for National First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, has officially outdoored “My Leadership Pledge” — a written document outlining his vision and commitments to party members ahead of the NPP’s internal elections.
Speaking at the launch on Wednesday, Ahiagbah said the pledge was developed after months of consultations with party members across all 16 regions.
“When I announced my run for National First Vice Chairman, I promised to make my case clear and give you something you could read, review, and use to hold me accountable. Today, I am keeping that promise,” he told party faithful and the media.
The 7 Priority Areas
According to Ahiagbah, the pledge focuses on seven main priorities:
1. Strengthening party unity and discipline
2. Improving welfare support for members
3. Developing early strategies for electoral victory in 2028
4. Building permanent party offices in all regions
5. Empowering the grassroots
6. Promoting transparency and accountability
7. Investing in the party’s next generation of leaders
He explained that each priority identifies what needs improvement, what he will do about it, and how the party stands to benefit.
“A party that values accountability deserves leaders who are willing to make their promises official, not just spoken,” Ahiagbah said.
Seven Clear Commitments
The document ends with seven pledges — to the flagbearer, the National Chairman, party structures, discipline, the grassroots, and to the next generation “who will inherit what we build today or what we fail to build.”
“I sign these pledges with full commitment,” he declared.
Accountability Mechanism
Ahiagbah said both printed and audio versions of the pledge will be distributed to delegates nationwide for review and comparison with his record of service.
He also promised regular progress updates to delegates and urged them to share feedback through meetings, official party channels, or his campaign office.
“I want delegates to keep this document and hold me to every promise in it. This is the standard I set for myself, and I am ready to be judged by it,” he added.
The former NPP Director of Communications ended his address with a call for unity as the party prepares for 2028.
