Wontumi is there alone in the prison, not all the NPP party, Be careful with party politics – Kwasi Mensah
Political commentator Kwasi Mensah has urged Ghanaians, particularly politicians, to exercise caution in their political activities following the imprisonment of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Mensah said Wontumi is currently the only political figure behind bars, warning that the development should serve as a lesson to others involved in partisan politics.
“Right now it’s only Wontumi who is in prison. Be careful if you are doing party politics in Ghana,” he stated.
His comments come in the wake of Wontumi’s conviction in the Akonta Mining illegal mining case, a ruling that has sparked widespread political debate and drawn mixed reactions from the public and political actors.
While some have defended the court’s decision as evidence of the rule of law, others, including members of the NPP, have described the conviction as politically motivated and have vowed to challenge the judgment through the appeals process.
