Central Regional NPP group petitions NEC to “immediately remove” Kennedy Agyapong from party without hearing
Patriotic Movement cites “sustained attacks” from 2023-2026, including threats to “spill the beans” and comments on Afari Hospital

A group calling itself the Leadership of the Central Regional Patriotic Movement has petitioned the National Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party, demanding the immediate removal of Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong from the party “without hearing his side”.
The petition, dated June 19, 2026 and signed by National President Issah Ahmed, Organizer Benjiman Tetteh, Communication Officer Emmanuel Wiredu, and Research Officer Isaac Eduful, was submitted to the National Chairman and NEC members.
Grounds for petition
The group accused the former Assin Central MP and 2024 NPP flagbearer aspirant of a “pattern of public denigration” of the NPP from 2023 to date, which they say undermines party integrity and damages electoral prospects.
Five specific allegations were listed:
1. Afari Military Hospital comments: Mr. Agyapong was accused of claiming the NPP “sold contracts and took 10%” on the Afari Military Hospital project and failed to complete any Agenda 111 facility. The petitioners described the statements as “deliberately malicious” and damaging to the party’s reputation in Ashanti Region. They referenced assurances by the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, that the hospital would be operational by September 2025.
2. Criticism of Bawumia’s concession*: After the NPP’s December 7, 2024 election loss, the group said Mr. Agyapong criticized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s early concession speech and suggested a “more combative approach”, which they argue undermines party discipline.
3. Grassroots neglect claims: In August 2025, he was cited for alleging on Pan African TV that NPP leadership had “systematically neglected grassroots supporters” after electoral victories.
4. “Spill the beans” threat: In June 2026, the petition quoted Mr. Agyapong as saying “NPP should be careful with me; I’ll spill the beans if they provoke me” and warning of a “showdown” because “no one is man enough in the NPP more than him”.
5. “Monsters” comment & clash: He was accused of describing individuals within the NPP structure as “monsters” who abuse power, and for a public clash with Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe Abronye during the party’s Thank You Tour in April 2025.
Demands
The Central Regional Patriotic Movement asked NEC to:
1. Immediately remove Hon. Kennedy Agyapong from the NPP
2. Conduct the removal “without hearing his side”
3. Issue a public statement confirming his removal
4. Warn other members against similar public attacks
They concluded that Mr. Agyapong’s actions constitute “clear betrayal” that “cannot be tolerated” and that his comments are “publicly documented on multiple media outlets”.
Context
Mr. Agyapong contested the NPP flagbearership in 2023 and has remained a vocal critic of party leadership since the 2024 defeat. His comments have repeatedly sparked debate within the party about discipline, free speech, and unity ahead of 2028.
