Reshuffling: Ministers moved to new sectors should face parliament again for vetting – Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu
Former Majority Leader and Member of Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has advocated for ministers who are reassigned to new portfolios through cabinet reshuffles to undergo fresh parliamentary vetting.
Speaking on Kessben TV, he argued that ministers are initially vetted and approved by Parliament based on the specific sectors they are nominated to oversee.
According to him, when a minister is moved to a different ministry, Parliament should be given the opportunity to assess the individual’s competence and preparedness for the new role.
Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu maintained that re-vetting reshuffled ministers would strengthen accountability and ensure that appointees possess the requisite knowledge and vision for their new assignments.
