Ejura Bridge which had been left without maintenance for years, finally collapsed following a downpour

People who ply the Ejura Road were left stranded after a bridge in the area collapsed following a heavy downpour, raising concerns over years of neglect and lack of maintenance.
According to residents, the bridge had been in a deteriorating condition for several years, with repeated calls for repairs allegedly ignored by authorities. The recent rains reportedly weakened the already damaged structure, leading to its collapse.
The incident has disrupted transportation and affected movement of people, goods, and services within the community and nearby areas. Residents are now calling on government and road authorities to urgently intervene and reconstruct the bridge to prevent further hardship.
Some community members expressed frustration over what they describe as continuous neglect of critical infrastructure, warning that the collapse could have been avoided if maintenance works had been carried out earlier. Authorities are yet to officially comment on the situation.
