Ghana doesn’t have too many Lawyers, They’re just concentrated in cities – Dominic Brenya Okyere ESQ

Dominic Brenya Okyere has defended Ghana’s new legal education reforms, stating that the country does not necessarily have too many lawyers, but rather a concentration of lawyers in urban areas.

Speaking on Kessben FM, Lawyer Okyere explained that many rural communities and smaller towns across Ghana still lack adequate legal representation and access to justice. According to him, the perception that Ghana has an excessive number of lawyers is misleading because most legal practitioners are based in major cities such as Accra and Kumasi.

He argued that the ongoing legal education reforms are necessary to increase opportunities for aspiring lawyers and help distribute legal professionals more evenly across the country. He added that expanding access to professional legal training would strengthen the justice delivery system and improve legal services in underserved communities.

Lawyer Okyere further noted that the reforms could help bridge the gap between urban and rural access to legal services, ensuring that more Ghanaians can obtain legal assistance regardless of their location.
