There’s nothing wrong with having Karnival in Ghana, Was it done at a mission house? Kwesi Mensah clashes with KOD

A heated debate has emerged over the place of carnival-style events in Ghana following a recent Karnival held in Accra.

Speaking on the Kessben Maakye show, panelist Kwesi Mensah defended the event, arguing that there is nothing inherently wrong with organizing a Karnival in the country.

“Karnival is just a form of entertainment. As long as it is held responsibly and not in inappropriate places, there should be no issue,” he stated.

However, his co-panelist KOD strongly disagreed, insisting that such celebrations are not rooted in Ghanaian culture and should not be normalized. He argued that embracing foreign-inspired festivities without regard for local traditions could erode cultural identity.
