Abandoned Kokoben–Anwhiankwanta road left to rot, leaving commuters highly frustrated

A 20-kilometre stretch of road linking Kokoben to Anwhiankwanta in the Ashanti Region has reportedly been left to deteriorate despite being under construction, raising concerns among residents and commuters.

According to a report by Kessben FM’s Ato Kwamina, the project, commonly referred to as the Kokoben to Anwhiankwanta Road, has stalled, with portions of the road already showing signs of neglect.

The road project was initiated during the administration of former President Nana Akufo-Addo and was expected to be completed by 2025. However, residents say progress has slowed significantly, leaving the stretch in a poor and sometimes dangerous condition.

Commuters who rely on the route have expressed frustration over the situation, citing increased travel time, vehicle damage, and safety risks due to the deteriorating state of the road.

Local observers are calling on authorities to urgently address the delays and resume work to prevent further deterioration. They warn that abandoning the project could lead to higher rehabilitation costs in the future.
