Former MD of Kumasi City Market Ltd, Edmund Kofi Duffour, is still paid every month for wrongful termination of appointment – KMA presiding member reveals

Patrick Kwame Frimpong, a presiding Member of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has revealed that former Managing Director of Kumasi City Market Limited, Edmund Kofi Duffour, continues to receive monthly payments following what has been described as a wrongful termination of his appointment.

Speaking on Kessben FM with  host Wofa Kofi Appiah, the Presiding Member disclosed that the Assembly is legally bound to compensate Mr. Duffour due to procedural lapses in the manner his contract was terminated.

According to the Presiding Member, the failure to adhere to due process has resulted in ongoing financial obligations for the Assembly, raising concerns about governance and administrative accountability within the management of the Kumasi City Market.

While the KMA is yet to release an official statement on the matter, the issue is expected to trigger further scrutiny and possible calls for reforms in how public institutions handle employment contracts and dismissals.

The Kumasi City Market remains one of Ghana’s most significant commercial centers, making the controversy particularly sensitive due to its potential financial and reputational implications for the Assembly.
