EOCO is an intelligence unit, not a force – Paul Yandoh educates

NPP Ashanti Regional communication director Paul Yandoh has emphasized that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) should be understood as an intelligence-driven institution rather than a force, following its recent raid on the residence of Kofi Jumah.

Speaking on Kessben FM in an interview with host Wofa Kofi Appiah, Yandoh explained that EOCO’s core mandate is rooted in intelligence gathering and careful investigation, not the use of force.

He noted that while enforcement actions like the raid may be necessary, they should be guided strictly by credible intelligence and due process. According to him, positioning EOCO as a “force” risks misrepresenting its role and could undermine public confidence in its operations.
