Things like damaged tyres should bypass procurement to prevent abandoned vehicles – Adwoa Kyerewaa
Kessben FM journalist Adwoa Kyerewaa has called for reforms to procurement procedures, urging authorities to make exceptions for routine vehicle maintenance such as replacing damaged tyres.
Speaking on Kessben Maakye, she argued that requiring minor repairs to pass through full procurement processes causes unnecessary delays and contributes to the growing problem of abandoned vehicles. According to her, such bureaucratic hurdles often leave vehicles idle for long periods, eventually leading to their deterioration.
“When a tyre gets damaged, it should not have to go through procurement processes,” she said, stressing that faster decision-making would help prevent vehicles from being left to rot.
Kyerewaa further noted that while procurement systems are important for ensuring accountability, there should be flexibility to address urgent and low-cost needs. She called for clearly defined exceptions within the system to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
