MCE unveils tough measures to curb growing waste heaps in Glefe and environs

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ablekuma West, Hon. George Kpakpo Allotey, has announced a decisive set of measures to combat the persistent challenge of indiscriminate dumping of refuse within the municipality, particularly around the Glefe dumping sites and surrounding communities in Dansoman.

Speaking on the issue, the MCE outlined a targeted strategy aimed at halting both internal dumping activities and the inflow of waste from outside Ablekuma West. Central to this intervention is the deployment of a heavy security presence, with support from National Security operatives, at key entry points leading to the identified dumping zones at Glefe and its environs.

According to the MCE, the move forms part of a broader effort to *eradicate the growing dumpsites*, which have become a major source of concern for residents due to their adverse impact on public health, sanitation, and the overall environment.

He emphasized that the Assembly will take a *firm and uncompromising stance* on the matter, stressing that the actions of a few individuals seeking selfish gains cannot be allowed to undermine the wellbeing of the larger community.

> “We are going to be very radical in addressing this situation. The health and progress of our people cannot be sacrificed for the benefit of a few,” he stated.

The initiative is expected to significantly reduce illegal dumping activities, restore environmental order, and improve living conditions for residents within the affected areas.

Hon. Allotey further assured constituents that this intervention is part of a sustained agenda to promote sanitation, discipline, and development across Ablekuma West.

Ablekuma West continues to witness steady progress as the Assembly intensifies efforts to address key challenges and improve the quality of life for its people.

Further updates will be communicated in due course.

Thank you.
