In a wake of issues about a Ghanaian young man popularly known as Abu Trika who is alleged to have been involved in romance fraud to some American citizens, Nana Frimpong Ziega, resident analyst to Kessben Maakye has insisted that,
lawyer Vumawore has argued that the case involving his client, Abu Trika, is not extraditable under the law, raising questions about the legal basis for any attempt to transfer him to another jurisdiction.
According to Ziega ,the lawyer said, if due legal processes are not carefully followed, any move to extradite Abu Trika could face serious challenges. He maintains that the allegations against his client do not meet the threshold required for extradition.
Ziega added that, in a recent development, Abu Trika’s legal team has been granted a two-week window to present evidence in his defense. The period is expected to be crucial in determining the direction of the case.
Meanwhile, there are concerns that the government may be leveraging the situation to influence public opinion, particularly given Abu Trika’s strong following. Observers warn that failure to handle the matter carefully could trigger public backlash, especially if supporters perceive the process as unfair.
Analysing the possible extraction of Abu Trika, Ziega warned sections of the public, with calls for influential figures, including celebrities, to use their platforms responsibly rather than inciting tensions. He therefore urged the celebrities to educate and inform their audiences on the legal and civic implications of the case and not to incite them to go on rampage to worsen the case.
Comments from some youth and public figures, including musicians Kwaw Kese and Shatta Wale to free Abu Trika now on the just ended Gomoa Easter festival, have reportedly intensified debate around the issue, further highlighting the need for measured discourse as the case unfolds.
The coming weeks are expected to be decisive as both legal arguments and public sentiment continue to shape the narrative around the high-profile case.
