I’m not happy with Burkina Faso’s lifting ban on tomato exports, this will make Ghanaian leaders not serious enough to produce our own – Wofa Kofi Appiah

Ghanaian broadcaster Wofa Kofi Appiah has expressed concern over Burkina Faso’s decision to lift its ban on tomato exports, warning that the move could discourage efforts to strengthen local production in Ghana.

Speaking on his show on Kessben FM, Wofa Kofi Appiah said he was not pleased with the development, arguing that continued reliance on imported tomatoes undermines the urgency for Ghanaian leaders to invest in the country’s agricultural sector.

“I’m not happy with the Burkina lifting the ban on tomato export. This will make Ghanaian leaders not serious enough to produce our own,” he stated during the broadcast.

His comments come amid ongoing discussions about food security and the need for Ghana to reduce dependence on imports, particularly from neighboring Burkina Faso.

While the resumption of exports may ease supply pressures in the short term, critics believe it could slow progress toward long-term self-sufficiency.
