The “You may kiss the bride’ in church in front of minors is wrong & unnecessary – Wofa Kofi Appiah condemns foreign culture sweeping in Africa

Ghanaian media personality Wofa Kofi Appiah has condemned the popular wedding practice “you may kiss the bride,” describing it as inappropriate within church settings, especially in the presence of minors.
Speaking on his show on Kessben FM, he argued that the practice, widely seen in Western wedding ceremonies, is gradually influencing Christian weddings across Africa in ways that may conflict with local cultural and moral values.
According to him, encouraging couples to kiss publicly in church is “unnecessary” and does not align with traditional African norms of modesty, particularly when children are present.
He further suggested that such elements represent foreign cultural imports that should be critically examined before being adopted.
