Council of State applauds Mahama over UN slavery resolution

The Council of State has extended its congratulations to President John Dramani Mahama following the passage of a United Nations resolution addressing slavery and its enduring global consequences.

In a statement, the Council praised the President’s role at the United Nations General Assembly, describing the development as a “distinguished success” that advances Ghana’s position in the global discourse on historical injustice and accountability.

According to the Council, the achievement underscores President Mahama’s “visionary leadership, diplomatic acumen, and unwavering commitment to justice, human dignity, and historical accountability.” It noted that Ghana’s advocacy at the UN reinforces its long-standing reputation as a leading voice in Pan-Africanism and a principled actor within the international community.
