Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, officially launched the 3i Africa Summit 2026 at Bank Square, emphasizing the need for a more integrated and collaborative approach to Africa’s fintech landscape.

Addressing a gathering of ministers, CEOs, industry leaders, and innovators, Dr. Asiama highlighted the Summit’s theme, “Shaping Africa’s Integrated FinTech Future,” noting that the continent’s financial evolution must move beyond fragmented innovation to connected, interoperable ecosystems.

“The choices we make today will determine whether change becomes merely disruptive or genuinely developmental,” he said. “Africa does not need isolated islands of excellence. It needs connected ecosystems, trusted digital infrastructure, and regulatory approaches that are coherent and enabling.”

Dr. Asiama underscored the critical role of collaboration between regulators, investors, and industry players, stating that innovation and regulation are complementary forces that, when aligned, can expand financial inclusion and strengthen systemic resilience.

He praised Ghana’s experience in advancing digital finance through intentional policy, credible institutions, and sustained market engagement, emphasizing that progress in fintech requires both ambition and discipline. “Readiness is evident—in talent, innovation, digital adoption, entrepreneurship, and regulatory innovation. The task now is to convert that readiness into coordinated action,” Dr. Asiama said.

The Governor encouraged stakeholders to engage actively in the lead-up to the Summit, using the platform to build partnerships, identify opportunities, and deepen continental engagement.

The 3i Africa Summit, convened in partnership with the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS) and the Global Finance and Technology Network, seeks to bridge policy ambition with market opportunity, fostering a fintech ecosystem that is integrated, resilient, and inclusive across Africa.
